WHY WOULD YOU HAVE FAT TRANSFER TO BREAST
Why would you have fat transfer to breast?
(fat transfer) is a technique whereby fat is taken from one part of your body and injected into another area. In my practice, I primary perform fat transfer to breast.
A fat transfer breast augmentation is suitable for those women that want to subtly enhance the shape and size of the breasts as it can boost volume by one cup size typically. For a more significant increase, I will recommend breast implants.
Fat transfer can also be used to correct asymmetry. Sometimes fat transfer can be used in combination with implants in a procedure known as a hybrid breast augmentation which allows to sculpt the breasts to achieve the optimal result.
During the fat transfer to the breasts, I will usually harvest the fat from the abdomen or thighs using the liposuction technique. The fat is then purified to remove any impurities before it is inserted into the breasts.
The breasts are usually ‘overfilled’ as a certain amount of fat is always reabsorbed by the body, so it will take six months before you will see the full results. Fundamental to this technique is the requirement for the fat to develop a new blood supply and thus external factors such as smoking, alcohol, exercise, etc can all affect fat graft take rates.
Fat transfer can produce a very natural, subtle enhancement to the breasts, but it is not suitable for every woman; during the consultation with me, I will discuss both the benefits as well as the possible drawbacks of the procedure so you can make an informed decision on whether to proceed.
Fat transfer can also be used for other indications too including scar management and scar revision.
