IS RECOVERY AFTER BREAST REDUCTION PAINFUL?
Pain is a very personal thing, what’s slightly uncomfortable for one individual, hurts for another.
Following breast reduction surgery, the majority of patients will experience mild to moderate pain. Sensation typically felt varies from swelling, tenderness, stiffness to shooting pains or a burning sensation.
After the first week, patients tend to have less discomfort and incorporate more activity into their day, though strenuous activities should still be avoided. By the second week, my patients should feel even more like themselves, and soreness should begin to resolve. The majority of my patients take anywhere from 10-14 days off from work so they can relax and focus on recovery.
My anaesthetist prescribed all necessary pain relief which is tailored to the needs of my patients.
